Broward County is fortunate to have a public library system that provides entertaining and informative programs for all ages and interests. The Friends of the Fort Lauderdale Libraries support these programs through both funding and participation.
This past year, the Friends provided almost $20,000 for over 60 programs that entertained a wide audience on diverse topics. Some of the programs were for children such as Have Fun With Yoga, others were for adults such as the Quilt Exhibit, and many were to support TAB (Teen Advisory Board) and their myriad activities. Other programs were for all ages such as Moonlight Tales with its captivating storytellers and musicians who performed under the stars at the Main library amphitheater. The Friends provided $9,000 for this event and participated further by selling glow necklaces.

In addition to providing funding for programs for the public, the Friends funded training and conference opportunities for the library staff, as well as holiday parties and staff recognition. Annually the Friends fund a Volunteer Recognition Dinner. The more than 50 people who attended the dinner this year received gifts of appreciation and certificates in recognition of their efforts.
